Mains of Errol Farm lies one mile from Errol, on the banks of the River Tay in the Carse of Gowrie, between Perth and Dundee. Strawberries have been grown here since 1999, and the farm is now run by the fourth generation of the same family. It farms 70 acres of table-top strawberry beds under polytunnels, growing everbearing varieties chosen so that the crop continues from early summer into autumn rather than arriving in a single harvest.

You pick your own strawberries at the Fruit Shack, which is open from mid-May to late October. Alongside picking, the shack sells punnets of freshly harvested strawberries to take home, strawberry gelato including dairy-free options, milkshakes, coffee and home-baked goods. There is a wheelchair-accessible car park.

What visitors say

The strawberries are excellent, among the best in Perthshire. You can pick your own or buy from the fruit shack, and there is strawberry ice cream made while you wait. Staff are friendly, helpful and quick, and the managers make you feel welcome rather than constrained. The fruit is good value and the place is beautiful, though one recent visitor found it hard to locate and gave up.
